Curatorial practice

I have been an independent curator, art & media programmer for over 15 years. I have specific expertise in managing and delivering complex creative projects and partnership development related to countries in crisis and transition. I have significant experience of developing complex cultural projects from inception to completion including securing and managing funding, writing reports and producing audio-visual recordings.

I am a keen observer of the Arts, Media and Contemporary Cultural Expressions produced by artists and cultural professionals in the MENA and sub-Saharan African Regions. I have notably contributed to promoting art and media projects related to Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia.

I carried out several missions for UNESCO, the British Council, AFAC (Arab Fund For Arts and Culture), Arts Council England, The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Arab British Center UK, Institut français Londres, Action Contre la Faim, UNHCR, the French Embassy in Khartoum, the Rift Valley Institute.

Educator leader

I frequently collaborate with NGO’s as an experienced trainer. I have carried out training activities in the field of Photojournalism and Conflict-Sensitive Reporting in the age of New Media and their contribution to Freedom of Expression. I designed and lead a series of training workshops for young media professionals in partnership with SIDA and UNESCO in Jordan and South Sudan / Juba.

I also provide adults and children with unique, creative, fun and interactive workshops to engage with photography and film, in order to develop their knowledge and skills, inspire them, to get them to expand their creativity and their arts participation and finally to contribute positively to the intellectual development and personal fulfilment of each and every student.
